In this episode, I share a story about how I’ve come to learn that community engagement is not something that a Government can opt in or out of – regardless of whether they are aligned to the left or right of the political spectrum. I use our recent experience of a shift of state Government in South Australia from 16 years of a Labor government to a new Liberal government – and how the community are demanding good engagement, that isn’t just tick-a-box consultation and involves them in decision making and problem solving from early on in the process.
