Who’s Becky?

Becky Hirst is an energetic, credible and inspiring leader with a proven track record in engaging people, groups and communities in decision-making and problem solving.

Becky is a strategic thinker who can dynamically and diplomatically drive vision and successfully implement people and community engagement planning, implementation and evaluation. Her leadership experience, including work with senior executive teams, managing project teams, and working with boards and politicians is vast. Her 21 years’ experience of working in the community engagement profession; running a successful, profitable and highly respected South Australia based consultancy for 11 years; and the passion she brings to raise the profile of people-centred, collaborative community engagement processes is second to none.

Becky demonstrated her strong, collaborative and values-driven leadership style in the engagement sector through founding Engage 2 Act, a collective of individuals committed to progressing high quality community engagement practice. As part of this work, Becky was a co-instigator in founding Global Community Engagement Day, celebrated around the world on 28 January every year.

Becky’s point of difference to other consultants is her combined energy, wealth of experience with numerous clients, credibility in the community engagement sector, and genuine desire to involve people in decision making.

Becky isn’t interested in the corporate world of community engagement. She enjoys applying her practical community based experience to inform processes that involve the community in decision-making.  She is passionate about those processes being straightforward, transparent and accessible and is well-known (and widely respected) for her inspiring approach to genuinely connecting with communities.

Proud to be one of the only independent community engagement practitioners in Australia who specializes in both face-to-face and online community engagement, Becky brings specialist knowledge to her clients that can’t be beaten.
