Becky Hirst Consulting worked with the City of Charles Sturt in designing and facilitating community engagement activity in relation to the Coast Park initiative.
Coast Park is a State Government Initiative to develop a 70km linear park right along the metropolitan Adelaide coastline, from North Haven through to Sellicks Beach. The concept for sections of the Park have been met with varying responses from local residents and stakeholders so an engagement process that respected their input was required. It was also important to provide a safe environment whereby everyone had the opportunity to have their say.
An interactive marketplace style event was held with technicians on hand to respond directly to input from the community. Participants of the sessions reported feeling valued and appreciated the opportunity to have their say without feeling threatened.
