Linking Melbourne Authority (LMA) is a Victorian government agency responsible for planning and delivering major road projects, generally using Public Private Partnership delivery.
LMA was responsible for overseeing the delivery of the $2.5 billion EastLink toll way in Melbourne’s southeast, and the $759 million Peninsula Link freeway, as well as assisting the Department of Transport with a business case for the proposed East West Link project.
Community engagement is essential to the success of LMA projects – commencing at project planning and continuing throughout the ensuing stages of delivery and operation.LMA sought a consultant to conduct a review and provide strategic advice on web 2.0 strategies and tools that can add value to the organisations community engagement objectives. Becky Hirst Consulting (trading as TableTalk Engagement) conducted the review by undertaking an audit of usability and navigation from the perspective of an external user and by utilizing information provided by the organisation.
The work involved conducting the review, followed by the preparation of a thorough report including recommendations on tools that would assist the organisation to achieve genuine engagement with their communities of interest. The report also contained recommendations on the use of web 2.0 tools to engage internal staff.
Following the report, TableTalk Engagement delivered in house training for Linking Melbourne Authority.
